Co-Coding to Learn
On Wednesday January 17th 2018, PDCI will host a one day conference for elementary teachers looking for an introduction to coding and programming. Interested teachers are asked to bring four students who will learn along side their teacher. No previous coding experience is necessary for participants --- the aim is to feel comfortable about returning to your school to begin your own coding and programming initiative.
Workshops are designed by student leaders enrolled in PDCI's iCoach program. The iCoach students are currently using the coding application (Swift Playgrounds) and devices (robots and drones) with grade 7 and 8 classes.

Never heard of iCoach? - PDCI is home to a unique program in its sixth term. As students in the iCoach program, we work collaboratively with teachers to plan lessons whereby iPad technology and other web applications are integrated into the classes to enhance classroom instruction. We also create promotional videos and materials for PDCI as well as undertaking other projects within the Perth community.
In the past students in our course organized and led three successful conferences for teachers and educators across Eastern Ontario as well as a conference for local businesses and non-profit organizations. Our conference focus this year is to share our knowledge and skills with teachers looking to learn more about using technology to support the UCBSB SIPSA literacy and numeracy goals.
